LED Dog Collar Review

Hello everyone, so in my last post I gave a basic summary about what LED dog collars were and listed some different variations of the LED dog collar including illuminated dog collars, reflective dog collars, and light up dog collars. Depending on who you are talking to, these can be just about the same thing although how they are made and the materials used to create these unique dog collars can certainly be different although they generally do serve about the same purpose for you and your dog.

LED Dog Collar Safety Information

One thing you should know if you are considering an actual LED dog collar that uses a battery for the lights to operate is that they are all made to be safe to your dog. My main concern was that my dog could be somehow shocked by the voltage of the battery if I was walking him in the rain or he tool off into the water to go for a swim before I had the chance to take off his collar. (and this does tend to happen as I often take him to a local river for a dip). If you are still weary of the battery inside the LED dog collar for safety reasons then you should know that the voltage stored in such small batteries is not enough to harm your dog and in fact they would probably not even feel it if they felt the full brunt of the batteries power, although this would never happen anyways. My point is that these battery powered light up dog collars are completely safe for your dog.

Another safety issue you may be wondering about are the actual lights themselves. When I think of lights I first think of light-bulbs which are made of glass and can easily shatter. And we all know that shattered glass can be dangerous. Next I imagine Christmas lights which these LED lights on the dog collars look somewhat like to me. These are also made of glass and can be quite harmful. The thing you should know is that the LED lights used in these LED dog collars are flexible and cannot shatter or break apart into shards or anything like that.

One more thing you should look at with an LED dog collar is to make sure that just because it is a lighted dog collar (a specialty item) that the collar does not lack any overall quality that you would expect to see in any other dog collar. The first thing you should look at is the ring that attaches itself to the dogs leash. Although you may not be able to determine what this metal ring at the end of the leash is made of its always a good idea to go for stainless steel if you can. At any rate you should make sure it is sturdy and there is no gap in the ring that could separate in the future and let your dog off. If it is a solid and sturdy appearing ring then you should be ok. If there is a slight gap in the ring of the dogs collar then you should manually make sure that you can not bend it yourself and that is usually a good enough test that your dong wont be able to budge it. But over time it is always a good idea to check for this. A second thing you should look at is the overall quality of the dog collar. Make sure this is wide enough as to not choke your dog and that it is also sturdy enough to hold your dog without stretching. Many dog collars will stretch over time so its a good idea to check the fit every so often so your dog will not slip off while walking on the leash.

In my opinion LED dog collars are an awesome new inventions. In case you don't know the benefits of having a collar for your dog that lights up, this post will explain the benefits. They easily allow you to spot your dog from a great distance. They are perfect for those late night walks or when it is foggy outside. They are especially helpful when it is raining and you simply want to let your dog outside. Fitting him with a LED dog collar lets you easily see where he is at all times some of these light up collars even flash bright lights on and off. Even if it is not raining, using an illuminated collar lets you let your pup off the leash while easily keeping an eye on him.

An L.E.D dog collar makes the perfect gift for any dog owner. It is fairly inexpensive and something unique to buy. Personally, if i were to receive a gift like that for my dog, I would be very excited. It is so helpful and I would be more trusting to let him off the leash at night knowing I could see him at all times. I would also love the fact that not a lot of people put these collars on their dogs, so its something different.

LED illuminated dog collars are also especially good for camping or hiking trips with your dog. It allows them to roam far while you have clear visibility of where they are. Going camping and taking your dog, yet keeping them leashed at all times, is just mean. Using one of these collars allows you to let them off the leash, if you trust them enough. Especially at night or dusk, when we can’t see as well, a LED dog collar is really helpful. We all want our pets to live the best life they can, and if using an illuminated collar to let them roam a little allows them to live happily, why not invest in one?

Many LED and flashing dog collars also come in different colors and have a blinking feature if you wanted an added touch. Likewise, many of them are waterproof; so if your dog wants to go for a dip, the collar will still be fully functional. They are also fairly lightweight, yet tough enough to handle any environment. Many of them only operate on a few volts, so it is perfectly safe for your dog to wear. Some are also a combination of LED lights and reflected polymer, so if you wanted something that wasn’t completely lights, thats available too.

LED dog collars are great way to bring your dog in to your every day activities. Many everyday bicycles have a similar set up for nighttime riders; naturally we should fit our dogs with the same sort of safety mechanism. LED dog collars are perfect for any outdoor event, whether it be a late night walk or something more extreme. These collars let your dog roam around freely while being safe at the same time. “Man’s best friend” deserves to be able to run around when they are outside; if fitting them with an illuminated collar lets them play longer and in a greater area, then there’s no reason not to to have one of these lighted dog collars.
